Petrol, Diesel costs stay secure for 2nd day after touching new highs

Retail gasoline costs remained regular for the second consecutive day throughout the nation after touching file highs on Saturday (February 27).

The costs of petrol and diesel in New Delhi stood at Rs 91.17 per litre and Rs 81.47 per litre, respectively, based on the Indian Oil Company Restricted (IOCL). In Mumbai, the value of petrol is Rs 97.57 per litre. The value of diesel stood at Rs 88.60 per litre.

The rise within the earlier weeks has taken petrol to cross historic excessive ranges of Rs 100 a litre in a number of cities throughout the nation. The gasoline costs have elevated amid a rally in world crude oil costs, with coronavirus vaccination drives the world over.

In the meantime, the costs of petrol and diesel in Chennai stood at Rs 93.11 and Rs 86.45 per litre, respectively. The value of petrol and diesel in Kolkata was secure at Rs 91.35 per litre and Rs 84.35 per litre, after the poll-bound state of West Bengal lower the state value-added tax (VAT) by Re 1 on February 20.

On February 26, Puducherry Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararaja introduced a 2 % discount in Worth Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel within the union territory, reported ANI. Whereas there was no respite from the centre in tax cuts for petrol and diesel, states together with West Bengal, Assam, Rajasthan and Meghalaya.

On February 26, Union Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had stated that the raging gasoline costs will come down because the winter ends.

“Costs will come down a little bit as winter goes away. It is a world matter, value is excessive as a result of enhance in demand, it occurs in winter. The value will come down,” he stated, as quoted by ANI.
